This program is the first formal training program on the Shambhala Buddhist teacher training path and will authorized qualified new teachers as directors for Shambhala Training levels II and III, and as co-directors for the first three courses of the Way of Shambhala I program: Meditation in Everyday Life, Contentment in Everyday Life (formerly calledTiger), and Joy in Everyday Life (formerly called Lion). This program replaces the Shambhala Training new director training and Buddhist teacher training programs.
Applicants must be mature practitioners, who:
- have completed dathun, Warrior Assembly, vajrayana seminary, and Rigden Abhisheka (or Kalapa Assembly)
- are Shambhala Training assistant directors, having assisted at 6 or more weekends
- are meditation instructors, having worked as a meditation instructor for at least six months
- have coordinated at least one Shambhala Training level
- have already given at least 6 short talks within Shambhala (such as, as an AD within Shambhala Training Levels, SSBS, Kasung, etc.)
- have a regular meditation practice
- are members of a Shambhala Centre, or of Shambhala (if not near a centre)
Acharya Arawana Hayashi is a senior teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition ; she has taught dharma art, Buddhism and Shambhala Training at centers around the world and serves on the faculty of the Shambhala Institute for Authentic Leadership. She was asked by Chogyam Trungpa to study and incorporate Bugaku into the body of Shambhala Arts.
Each applicant must supply 3 supportive letters of recommendation, which must be from senior teachers/leaders in your local centre.
